The 2018 Coffee Table designs find inspiration in nature with the early collection launched by Italian manufacturer Salvatori: Love Me, Love Me Not. The stone is the star of the show in these tables which were designed by Michael Anastassiades with the specific intention of highlighting the opulence of the marbles chosen for his collection. Natural stone is a beautiful expression of the earth that can enhance the style and sophistication of any environment where it is used.
Most people don’t realize that the term stone can actually be applied to a variety of materials. With materials such as slate, limestone, and travertine, the surface is not polished smooth, and is slightly irregular. When a material is polished it gets a uniform look, which can be completely broken by something as simple as a tiny scratch. However when stone has a natural finish, it hides tiny imperfections, within the chaos of its own natural face. Marble is probably the most delicate material that you can use in a table top application, and this is the material chosen by the designer for this 2018 coffee table.
Natural stone can provide a powerful centerpiece for any room. Whether it is used in a coffee table, dining table, bistro, or even just an end piece, the power of the stone will shine out into the room. The simplicity of each table is misleading. For example, if we take the legs, those of the rectangular dining table look like a conventional four-cornered leg but if you look closely you will see that they are, in fact, curved. This not only creates a sense of the leg drawing back, but also has the effect of lightening the table itself.
Love Me, Love Me Not collection is an expression of the living earth, a piece of the planet which is formed of a constituent mix of its own ingredients, slowly cooked, melded, and worked by immense pressure over time, until it takes on the solid and familiar characteristics that we all know and recognize.
